Sea to Sky
A mural installation for the Vancouver Mural Festival in 2020.
Commissioned as part of the Vancouver Mural Festival, Sea to Sky is a vibrant mural located at 855 E Hastings Street in Vancouver. This project marked my first foray into mural painting, offering a unique opportunity to translate my design work into a large-scale public artwork.
The mural features bold geometric shapes and a vivid colour palette, reflecting my signature style. The design process involved adapting to the building's stucco surface, which required simplifying certain elements to accommodate the texture. Instead of traditional projection or grid methods, I utilized the existing lines of the building's cinder blocks and panels to map out the composition directly on the wall.
Sea to Sky celebrates the natural beauty of British Columbia, drawing inspiration from the surrounding landscapes and aiming to bring joy and colour to the urban environment.
